Facebook announced today its new product called Instant Articles for the mobile platform. Instant Article’s goal is to offer readers high speed loading of articles and high quality media upload for publishers.
Facebook is quoted in saying that current technologies take up to 10 seconds to load a single article. Instant Articles, on the other hand, can load the same article in a second. The reasoning for this new load speed is to offer users easier access to content. As mobile news and media become a stable in today’s world, this new technology will serve to be extremely beneficial.
On the other side of things, publishers now have access to extremely high quality upload of images and videos.
At launch time, Instant articles currently has 9 partners: The New York Times, National Geographic, BuzzFeed, NBC, The Atlantic, The Guardian, BBC News, Spiegel and Bild. As Facebook makes further advancement in mobile media, these companies definitely want to be a part of the action.
